The Higher Education Academy Learning and Teaching in Health (HEALTH) Network Group is a collaboration between the Academy Subject Centres for Health Sciences & Practice (HSAP) and Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine (MEDEV).

The Higher Education Academy Learning and Teaching in Health (HEALTH) Network Group arose following the Academy's review of Subject Centres, including those in health and social care in 2003. Professor Janet Finch (Vice Chancellor, Keele University) chaired the review group, who reported to Professor Robert Burgess (Vice Chancellor, University of Leicester). They recommended that the relevant subject centres work closely together to support the health constituency.

The Subject Centres for Health Sciences & Practice and Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine have worked hard to establish a single advisory board (chaired by Professor Dorothy Whittington) which has steered the work of the two Centres since 2006, including the development of a common mission and strategic aims.

"On behalf of the Board, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to this website which reflects close collaboration between our health related subject centres. A single advisory board was established in 2006 to guide and steer the collaborative and separate activities of the centres for Health Sciences & Practice and for Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine. We think this multi-professional approach reflects policy direction for health care education and practice and hope it will result in a better service to you."
